All New Mercedes CLK First Spy Photos

Long awaited amongst Mercedes fans, we got the first spy shots today in Stuttgart. Mercedes is hard working on the next generation CLK which is bigger and yet a bit more elegant than the outgoing model. The new CLK coupe and convertible just like their predecessor will be based on the still-new W204 C-Class saloon. Going in the same direction of the new C-Class, the CLK's chassis is expected to give greater driving dynamics and will lose some of it's softness in pursuit of a slightly younger, more performance orientated driver. Although heavily covered in flat black tape, we can see the overall shape of the CLK as well as some design details such as obvious C-Class styling in the front grille and headlamps plus trapezoidal exhaust tips for the CLK 550 model. Engines are expected to match those coming from the C-Class line-up in addition to the S-Class 382hp 5.5 liter V8 for the CLK 550 pictured here with the registration plate M ZY 1011. We expect the car to arrive at dealers in summer 2009 with the convertible following a year later.

Dit zal het wel niet worden. Volgens mij dateert dit nog uit de tijd dat de shops van de C-klasse ook deze lichten hadden, en dat is ondertussen al lang bekend dat dit niét het geval is

Waarom moeten die trouwens altijd een zo hoog oplopende gordellijn hebben? Een vrij horizontale gordellijn, zoals bij de BMW E46 Coupe, is knapper imo...

Spied: 2009 Mercedes CLK

Caught on film earlier today in Stuttgart, Germany, is the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK. Scheduled for release in 2009, the new CLK replaces the nearly five-year-old current model which has only seen one facelift. Our spy tells us the 2009 CLK coupe should come out in early 2009, with the rag-top convertible being released just in time for summer.

Mercedes needs to upgrade its CLK to best the BMW 3-Series coupe, the Audi A5 coupe, and the 2009 Audi A5 convertible.

The new CLK should have three different engine choices, including a V6 with 272 horsepower, a 388 horsepower V8, and a nasty 503 horsepower CLK 63 AMG. There may also be a 428 horsepower option as well, along with diesel engines for some markets. Likewise, the 4-matic system should be an option. We look forward to seeing how Mercedes will release this as a hybrid.


This update on the CLK should be a little more upmarket, as well. We eagerly await a little more class and style on this car's exterior, but until a little more black tape and prototype-casing is dropped, we'll have to keep wondering what the exact look of this car will be. Our spy on the streets of Germany believes the four-eyes front end "will be quite different from the looks of the C-Class."

De eerste versie van de CLK vind ik nog steeds 10X knapper dan de huidige.

Er scheelt gewoon iets met de lijn en de verhoudingen van de carrosserie. De neus is te spits voor een Mercedes. Ik hoop dan ook dat de CLK een even forse neus krijgt als de huidge C, want die neus vind ik zeer knap.
Ook vind ik het dak van de huidige CLK te hoog en te bol. Dit staat in contracst met de ranke neus en poep waardoor ik dus vind dat de verhoudingen niet kloppen.
