Bugatti Veyron v Pagani Huayra, Ferrari 458 Spider v McLaren 12C v Audi R8 V10, Ferrari Testarossa road test, Mercedes A45 AMG driven

    18th June 2013

    News
We give you the lowdown on the next Lamborghini Gallardo, an insight into the electric Audi you won’t be driving in the future, and a bluffer’s guide to Le Mans

    First drives
New Bentley Flying Spur, Mercedes AMG's first hot hatch and a host of other new cars get the evo once-over

    Columns
While Harry is worried about expensive bits of carbonfibre, Richard Porter is more concerned with Percy Pig. Priorities…

    Letters
The argument about the merits of the new 991-spec Porsche 911 rumbles on, while many of you find that long ratios grind your gears as much as they do Harry’s

    Bugatti Veyron v Pagani Huayra
The world’s two greatest hypercars – worth around £2.5million put together – go toe‑to-toe as Pagani’s finest faces the 1183bhp Grand Sport Vitesse for the first time ever

    Icon: Ferrari Testarossa
In the 14-year history of evo, Ferrari’s flat-12 monster has never undergone a proper road test. Henry Catchpole redresses that omission on road and on track in South Wales

    Ari Vatanen at Pikes Peak
Sebastien Loeb will attempt to conquer the famous hill climb this month, but another rallying hero did just that for the French marque 25 years ago. Ari tells us how he did it

    Ferrari 458 Spider v McLaren 12C Spider v Audi R8 Spyder
The Audi R8 V10 Plus stood its ground against Ferrari and McLaren in our coupe test two issues ago. Can its open-topped sibling repeat the feat?

    Donkervoort D8 GTO
The lightweight Dutch racer you’ve never heard of could be Europe’s best kept sports car secret. Dickie dodges the tulips to find out for himself

    Senna’s Mercedes racer
Mike Duff is obsessed with Mercedes 190Es. None of us knew why – until now. He takes his own model to the Nürburgring to meet the similar machine in which Senna made his name

    Long-Term tests
A Toyota GT86 joins the fleet, as does a substantially modified old Beemer, while Ev’s Renaultsport Twingo is pinched by Trott and taken on a European trackday adventure

    evo knowledge
How to buy a used BMW E60 M5 without picking up a clunker, and where to drive it in the Alps

    Art of Speed
The huge curved windscreen that helped make the Lancia Stratos a rallying legend

Richard Meaden over de Singer 911 (EVO 176):

" With the moon rising and our work done, we stand around the car in silence, staring at the 911 as though for the first time, eyes hungrily following every swoop and curve until it's too dark to see... "

Aston Martin CC100 concept in-depth, Renault Clio Turbo v 208 GTI, Fiesta ST, Mini JCW and Juke Nismo, Lamborghini Aventador road trip

    21st May 2013

    News
We look at the intricate aerodynamics of the new McLaren P1 and get all giddy at the potential cross-country pace of the latest Porsche 911 Turbo

    First drives
Porsche 918 Spyder, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Lotus Evora Sports Racer, 2013 Nissan GT-R, Maserati Quattroporte V6, SEAT Leon FR TDI and a special edition Aston Martin Vanquish reviewed and rated

    Columns
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to drive an oval at over 200mph? No one is better placed to divulge than Dario Franchitti

    Letters
Ratios and their methods of being swapped are what have been driving you to put quill to parchment this month

    Aston Martin CC100
The most exciting thing most people get when they reach 100 is a card from the Queen. With all due respect, we think Aston’s present to itself - a wild speedster concept - is rather better

    Hot hatch group test
New Renaultsport Clio Turbo faces Peugeot 208 GTI, Mini JCW, Ford Fiesta ST and Nissan Juke Nismo in mid-Wales. With more three-wheeling cars than the Morgan factory

    Talbot Sunbeam Lotus
The original rear-wheel-drive hot hatch and also the only Talbot we’re ever likely to feature in evo

    Dean Stoneman
If Stoneman’s racing comeback was a film script, you’d think it was more saccharine and far-fetched than a Haribo factory on Pluto. But remarkably, it’s all real

    Lamborghini road trip
We drive an Aventador Roadster and a familiar Countach all the way to Italy. On days like these…

    Lambo 50th Anniversary Tour
Lamborghini may only be half the age of Aston, but 50 years is still a good excuse for a knees-up (or a mambo Lambo jambo, if you will)

    Ring Virgin
Nick Trott had never been to the Nurburgring. A BMW M3 and a two-day course helps explain to him what all the fuss is about
    Long-term tests
Editor Trott would be weeping about the loss of his Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe had it not been replaced by a McLaren MP4-12C

    evo knowledge
We tell you how to buy a Mercedes SLK55 AMG and then reveal the best road in Austria on which to drive it

    Art of Speed
In the same month we drive the new Porsche 918, we look back at the stories behind the wooden gearknobs in the 917 and the Carrera GT

    First drive
Reviews of the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series, Ford Fiesta ST, Mercedes CLA250, Aston Martin Rapide S, Mini John Cooper Works Paceman and a very special Subaru Impreza

    Columns
Harry's grumpy about the future of cars once again. Howls of protest to the usual address

    Letters
On that note, here’s all your reactions to last month’s Harry rant. And a diesel Aston. Maybe

    Supercar supertest
A Ferrari F12, a Lamborghini Aventador and an Aston Martin Vanquish in the Italian hills. Do group tests get any more epic?

    2013 Porsche 911 GT3
PDK, rear-wheel steering, £100k - Porsche’s GT3 has never been so controversial. Or as raw and exciting, apparently…

    The best 911 GT3 yet
While we digest the probable evo Car of the Year for 2013, a comparison of its ancestors seems fitting

    New Clio 200 Turbo
Renault’s turbocharged, flappy-paddled Clio 200 has some cynics to prove wrong. We drive it

    R.I.P. manual gearbox
A eulogy for the stick shift, with the best and worst examples and some performance comparisons

    New Alfa analysed
The wee 4C is the most focused Alfa Romeo in decades – it doesn’t even have power steering

    Electric supercars
The BMW i8 and Mercedes SLS ED prove zero emissions are far from zero fun. We get to know both

    Icon: BMW M5
The original E28 M5 wasn’t lauded in the 1980s. We redress the balance

    Long-term tests
Three new arrivals, badged McLaren, Lancia and, erm, Hyundai

    evo Knowledge
Wind-in-the-eyes thrills with our Ariel Atom buying guide and – if you’ve swallowed your silly pills – where to enjoy it in France

    Car data
All the numbers you’ll ever need

    Art of speed
We celebrate the design of the Audi Quattro wheelarch

    Mature hot hatchbacks
Roll-cages and semi-slicks a bit much? Might we suggest the more refined nature of a BMW M135i. It takes on a VW Scirocco R, a Renault Megane 265 Cup and a Superchips Ford Focus ST

    MG Metro 6R4
We drive the boxy riot of be-winged craziness that is the ultimate hot hatch of them all. And this might just be the most original example in existence

    Inside Nismo
Rarely, if ever, has a red door provided so much excitement. We poke around the Aladdin’s cave that is the Nismo factory

    Porsche Cayman S
Despite being named after a small crocodile, this is one of 2013’s most eagerly awaited cars. Richard Meaden drives it in Portugal

Aston Martin V12 Zagato to Scotland
Mix whisky, a piste-basher and possibly the greatest stretch of tarmac in the UK and you get a potentially lethal combination. We sample them separately

    Mitsubishi Evo Generations group test
Some people still assume that this magazine is all about Mitsubishis. This test won’t do anything to dissuade them

    Long-term tests
We never thought it’d happen - Harry waves his beloved Pagani Zonda goodbye

    evo Knowledge
Why not combine two parts of this issue’s Knowledge by purchasing a Lotus Evora using our buying guide and then driving it out to Morocco courtesy of our road trip suggestion?

    Essentials
Still pondering what to spend those Christmas book vouchers on? We have got the answer

    Art of speed
Behold the most iconic manual gearshift of them all

Richard Porter wants to set up the RSPCC and Harry details the woes of being rich enough to own a supercar, but not to insure one

    Letters
Your missives are filled with Venom this month. By which we mean your opinions on the Hennessey

    Extreme hot hatchbacks
The 4wd Audi A1 quattro and the rabid (and rapid) new Mini John Cooper Works GP take on two of the hottest hatches ever on road and track - the Renault Megane R26.R and Ford Focus RS500

McLaren, Maserati and Aston Martin have riled you this month, while Harry’s ruffling feathers. Again

    Hennessey Venom
It’s rated as one of the world’s fastest cars, but does this Lotus-alike hypercar deliver on its Top Trumps numbers?

    Koenigseggs compared
Harry samples the CC8S and Agera R to see how far the Swedish supercar maker has moved on in ten years

    Bowler group test
The leaping, bouncing Bowler EXR S deserves a Swiss-army group test. Enter Porsche Cayenne GTS and Nissan GT-R

    £15k coupe test
Bag a hairy-chested coupe bargain. BMW Z4 M, TVR Tuscan, Porsche Cayman S and Nissan 370Z slug it out
